My grandfather Al-Haj Maatouk May Allah bless, forgive, and cover him with his mercy.
He is a real leader, all people love him. He used to fix the broken bones of the injured person free of charge.
He built one masjed in Alnaa'ima in Palestine on his land with his own money, and he is the one who initiated the idea of building of the mosque in the Borj Al-Shimali Camp in Lebanon. He has excellent skills to solve the social problems and brings people together to establish new projects and solve disputed problems between families.
He supported women to get their education and to have their marital rights.
All of his daughters in law have a high respect for him, he supported them during his life and defended all of them and get their full rights from his boys.
Al-Haj Maatouk used to choose representatives from different families in the Borj Al-Shimali Camp and have meeting to discuss the issues, needs, and obstacles of Palestinians in the camp and find solutions for it.
Also, he solved many disputed problems between families in Palestinian camps in Syria and Lebanon.
Really, he was a wise and cool man.
People in the camp respect him even after his death.
He was very closed friend of Sheikh Hammoud.
He was beloved and respected by all people.
On daily basis, he used to offer the black coffee (Turkish coffee) to his visitors.
One of his strongest characters is that he did his prayers Salat since he was 5 years old up to his death (97 years old). He never miss any Fard.
He used to pray qiam alleil (Tahajjud) continuously at night.
He has one brother by the name of Sheikh Abdulrahim in Palestine, Sheikh Abdulrahim completed his Islamic studies and Sharee'a in Al-Azhar University in Cairo Egypt with Sheikh Hammoud, but he died at early stages in Palestine.
